  1. INTERESTING FACTS FROM LISTENING TO RADIO 4

    1) There are over 200 professional computer games players worldwide. Most of them come from South Korea where they are as famous as Western celebrities.

    2) All French prisoners were given Tattoos to identify them when they went to prison. When this stopped at around 1900 the prisoners started tattooing themselves for fun anyway and it took off from there.

    3) Naturally occuring bacteria exists in sea water that breaks down crude oil and releases carbon dioxide but for it to flourish there needs to be an equally large amount of nitrogen present which is why some oil clean up experts are suggesting fertiliser should be used during the clean up to hurry the oil's break down and dispersal.

  4. How does Mark Appleyard do nollie frontside heal-flips down double sets of stairs over hand rails. That has to be the most unnatural feeling trick you can think of having to do. That is the skateboard equivalent to taking it up the ass from your female boss in porn land.

I remember there was that black guy who used to do those Osirus commercials for a while who would nollie hard-flip over dumpsters off loading bays. It's a really stylish trick but absolutely solid.

Why hasn't Mark Appleyard been crowned skater of the year yet?

I thought I may have been wrong, that maybe it was just fakie because nollie sounded too hard but it is nollie. That's a life's work in that trick.....what a waste. lol!

  6. ...it's not a double set. I'm not surprised actually. He can't see where the fuck he's going because he's coming into it blind side, if he was at speed there is every chance he'll break both his ankles on the landing or completely freak out as he approaches the drop and get wrapped round the handrail in a horrible awkward way.

You can see he does the nollie trick (which is hard enough in it's own right) and then turns in the air as if he is switching his stance to land it. It looks completely unnatural because his brain is unable to process the fact he's turning with the board like he would be used to with say a fakie frontside heel flip. Fucking crazy complex.

I guess it would be like trying to draw a perfect circle with your left hand whilst signing your name with your right hand whilst left handed if you know what I mean. Just supreme control/authority other his own body and the board. A kind of martial artist of sorts.

  7. Skateboarding is important because it beats boredom. Boredom is the enemy, boredom is destructive or should I say boredom leads to destructive thought and action.

I don't know if anybody has heard the phrase,"only boring people are bored." But it is an absolute truth. So if skateboarding alleviates boredom for people in a non-destructive way I think that this can only be a good thing.

God knows! I struggle with boredom and I struggle with people who are bored....

  8. Jesus Christ! The thrasher magazine link is so fucking gnarly... just everything they do goes above and beyond the call of duty of what might be asked of skateboarding. Sorry transworld sport but Thrasher rocks.

  9. My back is still not right. A bit annoying to have wrecked my back at this age.

I went out the one morning heavy drinking and I had maybe 8 pints and went to a lap dancing club and was throwing my money around spending loads on the girls there then I crossed the line and was asked to leave. I left as I got to the door I threw the doorman on the floor and all of a sudden out of no where unmarked policemen are all over me and one of them puts his knee in my back so hard I think he's permanently fucked my lower back. I've had MRI scans and seen the doctors and seen specialists but they tell me there's nothing wrong with it but it's fucked. God be my witness..... that's why I hate booze.

  10. Sad really. Prefer not to think about it. Pretty horrible experience.

Went skating the other day, local park. Quite nice, spotted it whilst out on my bike. Woke up this morning and everything is sore. My "ollie" leg is aching and my stomach is aching plus smashed up my shins on the flat bank. Body seriously telling me I'm too old for it now but still held my own just about with skaters literally half my age.

It would be interesting to know what skateboarding does for fitness? Must be good for you?

  11. ... you know, you go out for some light entertainment. I know I'm pretty wasted, I could sit through a lap dance, the advert on the front of the building states, " a lap dancing club". I've never been to a lap dancing club before in my life so I don't know what to expect.

I get in there, it turns out it's just a bar with private rooms round the back. I ask basically, "is this a brothel?" I'm asked to leave, I leave. Doorman starts pushing me around. I wake up in a prison cell with a permanent back injury and a criminal record. Fucking shit. Watching TV documentary following night on TV how lap dancing clubs are falsely advertised as advertising clubs when they're just brothels run by thugs and this hapens all the time. What can you do?

  14. He tried getting a job at BP doing offshore rigging but he lost the arm wrestling match at the interview or his cock wasn't big enough or something? (TWATS)

  15. I simply cannot contain my hatred of BP or the whole "oil man" "rough-neck" atitude within the industry having worked it myself.

I have a relative who is actually a BP off- shore oil rig worker who is currenty stationed just off the coast of Japan (on my military wing side of the family) and I think it's important the general public recognises that generally speaking these workers are anything but professional.

I know he is constantly complaining about working long hours but it's a big deal in the oil game that you're a puff if you can't put in at least a 70-80 hour week split day/night shift without dropping dead.

Anyway... everybodies favourite reporter Dave has been doing some cool media again:

  18. I think my worst injuries were: a sprained ankle on a curb outside my house and a possible broken rib when I was thrown into the corner of a grind box at a park. I also gave myself concussion trying to do a backside 180 flip down some stairs in France somewhere, Toulouse? perhaps.

Stitches between your ass and your balls would make you grow out of skateboarding pretty quick you would have thought. Got to be pretty embarrassing too.

  19. ...who knows, a couple of inches to the left or right and he could have severed his renal artiary and we could have had our first fatality? Snapped board through ass has to be the worst slam.

  21. I don't think anybody in the Skateboard community really wants to see that kind of thing happan to another skater. If he's good enough to try a set that big, he should at least be granted a new board that's up to the job. hard knock life ( a legend is born).

  22. BP are in serious shit at the moment. Pressure tests have discovered that the floor where they've built this well isn't necessarily stable enough to contain the oil pressure even with a cap on the well that works.

So if the floor blows (let alone the well) we're all in deep shit. My anger really stems from going on holiday to Crete a lot when I was younger and just constantly being disappointed by the oil on the beaches and the same thing is going to happen along the whole East coast of North and South America for who knows how long? Maybe a couple of generations at least. Oil spills really do suck for a long time despite what anybody else tries to tell you. They fuck up the planet, that's the truth. Where will we be if an entire oil field empties itself into the Pacific? Deep shit thats where!

Come on BP you fucking weak willed pieces of shit, redeem yourselves!! Sort it out, drain the fucking field if you have too but make sure it's not into the sea.

  24. Yes, the thrasher lot knows what's up. Just to be in the presence of Jake Phelps you quickly become aware that that crowd are on another level. We're talking burly over the top hard bunch of people.

It's rare that I am kind of star struck or dumb struck when I meet someone but that's the kind of people this lot are. I met Bam Magari in my local supermarket once and he is one tough imposing son of a bitch. Natas also is larger than life healthy and burly/brute strong.

Seeing as we are on the subject Ronaldo and Beckham are larger than life big people too but by comparison Kelly Brooke is very small I think I'm right in saying? I met her on my bus.

  27. I've met Tony Blair twice. Once he came to campaign for better flood defences in my home town and second he was unveiling a memorial site of a hit and run copper in Brum.

He came straight at me in my home town and I couldn't understand why he had his head down, kind of looking ashamed of himself as he approached. Couldn't look me in the eye. Didn't like that, looked like he had something to hide or be ashamed about....two years later starts a war.

The grave stone ceremony was ridiculous. Have you ever heard of anything so stupid as a policeman's grave on the side of a road. I had to walk past a policeman's grave every day for two and a half years on the way to work and I just thought what a s**t hole. Riots started soon after I left. May aswell have had a massive sign up saying, "Perry Barr is lawless!" Was really hard work living there.
