  2. Leonard Cohen Lyrics: Songs from A Room (The Old Revolution)

I've finally broke into the prison,
I've found my place in the chain.

Even damnation is poison with rainbow,
all the brave young men, they're waiting now to see a signal.
Which some killer will be lighting for pay.

Into this furnace I ask you now to venture,
    you whom I cannot betray.

I fought in the old revolution,
on the side of the ghost and the king.

Of course I was very young and I thought that we were winning.
I can't pretend I still feel very much like singing as they carry the bodies away.

Into this furnace I ask you now to venture,
    You whom I cannot betray.

    Lately you've started to stutter,
as though you had nothing to say.

To all of my architects let me betrayed her. Now let me say, I myself gave the order to sleep and to search and to destroy.

Into this furnace I ask you now to venture,
    you whom I cannot betray.

Yes you who are broken by power,
you who are absent all day.

You who are kings for the sake of your children's story.
The hand of your begger is burdoned down with money; the hand of your lover is clay.

Into this furncace I ask you now to venture,
    you whom I cannot betray.

The Future (the future) I've got an 800watt stereo with a bass box that's so big I can hardly fit any shopping in the boot and this album complete with 80's synthesizers really kicks out bass. The lyrics are more subtle when heard in music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNN0804olxw These lyrics really don't make any sense unless listened to in musical format. I like this song. Very inciteful but it's nothing clever it's just the truth. This is the way the world is.

  4. I wish I could write poetry or music. It's really clever stuff and it's all the more impressive when it appears to be effortless.

  5. Trying to replaster a kichen at the moment and I just don't know where to start.

Can't find any information on "videojug", my usual reference point for DIY jobs on how to plaster plasterboard.

Whether it is possible to plaster onto plasterboard that has had wallpaper on and removed with the residue of wallpaper paste? Do I need to put up new plasterboard altogether or do I wet the current plasterboard?

How to conceal visible water pipes, electricity wires into the wall?

How to perhaps fit new work surfaces and tiling. etc... (got a mouse problem from behind the sink) shhhh ! Don't tell the tenants.

This is my biggest job yet and I think "failing to prepare is preparing to fail" rings true on this one.

Plus! Got housemates milling about the house getting in the way so I'm not sure whether to leave it all together till they've buggered off and get a haircut and look for a regular job in the maen time.

The professional kichen people had a look at it and said they couldn't do anything with it because it's too small and that it is already illegal so I guess I'm going to have to take the plunge.

Sorry housemates for today! Dithering.... Day of sitting around contemplating task ahead. Going to need a bit more thought this one.

  6. That's probably why plasterers generally have too much free time and money because it's impossible to get any information anywhere on plastering. It's made out to be a really skilled job but I'm sure it can't be that hard.

I'm ticking these jobs off a list that people call a "trade". I call it taking the piss. Door fitters, sash window repairers, double glaziers, painters and decorators, landscape gardeners, renderers, brick layers, fencing companies, drain cleaners, joiners ... Infact I should have a white van myself and go round showing off all my DIY skills and call it a job like everybody else.

It's the "boiler man" who really has the upper hand as a tradesman, secret knowledge passed around like members of the magic circle. Even they are no longer "corgi registered" meaning they're probably becoming con artists too. A royal standard still means something in this day and age don't you know.

  7. Hang on....we have a plastering quote advertised on this site. The wonders of modern technology. I may have to take them up on that.

  8. "...life is one problem after another"

That was a quote by someone, I can't remember who. It's an accurate one, a little negitive perhaps.

  9. Of course I'm a wierd. Most skateboarders are strange people/misfits. Tom Penny is a much better skater than Rob Drydek by far. He's just not as good in front of the camera. What he lacks in looks he makes up for in ability.

Most celebs are egomaniacs. Everyone knows that. I used to work for an Irishman erecting marquees and I remember he said to me that celebrities are "the worst" and that's coming from someone who has worked with all types of people. Who wants to work with an egomaniac? No-one or another egomaniac. It's the little people that make the world go round.

  10. Matt Hensley was a crap skater anyway. I remember he used to be in all those H-Street vids doing no-complys cown side walks and a kick flip. I suppose he was one of the earliest skaters in the 80's. I remember he ollied a picnic bench to nose wheelie at some point as his highlight in his career. He was crap. I don't get it. Why make a vid about him? Infact all of those H-Street vids were crap.

  11. Yeah, I need a plasterer. If I could get this kichen plastered I could move out and let the rest of the house. It's the last job to be done. I've done everything else.... well I need two double glazed window units too at the rear of the property. I've been quoted £500 by Anglian.

As long as the money goes to a good cause it's worth spending right? It's not like I'm going out and getting hammered or spending it on whores or a cocaine habit I just want to be warm in the winter and have somewhere to cook food. For fucks sake!

  12. The point being, business is slow at the moment, in general. The only reason this kind of work doesn't get done is because of the management and media trying to direct the public into a recession.

There's no reason at all why these kinds of improvements can't be made for everybody. It's just that the people in the position to make this happen don't let it. "It's nice and quiet, just the way we like it." Is the typically management comment.

As for celebs. I'm not saying you should go out and kill them or anything like that. Unfortunately there are always nutters in society that will try to harass or do worse crimes to celebs and people in general. That's a risk celebs have to judge for themselves as we all have to. I'm not trying to start a witch hunt for celebs. It's a job first and foremost like any other.

It's people like "Vanessa George" that really commit crimes against society of significant harm. Harmless is good, though surprisingly rare. Kill her. Why not? Just clear her from our minds and consciences. Why should we have to live amongst these people and the effect of their actions ten, twenty years down the road. It's sickening. I read in the daily mail that they let her go back to work at some point in the investigation? Is the media just trying to piss us off? Does the media no longer hold any substance or meaning? I fucking hate her and all the people like her who are currently employed. Thank god you haven't had to work with some of these people like I have.

  13. I don't really care if anyone reads this. If they do I hope subliminally (like all media) it directs people to be better people rather than have a negitive effect. I'm a synical drunk who was barred for this kind of thing. Just don't get me started. The news is becoming way to depressing and negitive. Shock tactics to grab attention of the viewer perhaps? Sad
